Who is Peggy?
After closing my counseling practice, I took on leadership roles: first as the interim President & CEO of the Chamber of Commerce in Albion, Michigan, and then as an Office Administrator at the Community Foundation in Athens, Michigan. While these positions were rewarding, my passion for writing and leading seminars and workshops remained strong. This passion continues to guide me today.
I share my journey to highlight the importance of self-discovery and pursuing one’s true calling. Although aligning my career with my love for writing and teaching took years, that transition proved invaluable. Now, at 61, I’m fully engaged in my work. My message is simple: don’t hesitate to chase your dreams.
The breadth of my career has made me a jack-of-all-trades and a connoisseur of life’s rich tapestry. I prefer to identify myself as a “Maverick,” charting my course with an independent spirit.
Remember, whether you’ve spent decades in the same role or explored various paths, what matters most is the joy and fulfillment your work brings. I am grateful for the opportunity to explore my different career choices. It has inspired me to achieve many things in life and be the person I am today.
I I want to offer you a glimpse into my life. I’m a family woman—a wife, mother, grandmother, and proud dog owner. Beyond these roles, I’m an independent spirit who thrives on being my own boss. This realization dawned on me after years of diverse job experiences.
I’ve been a convenience store clerk, a compassionate hospice worker, a waitress, and a bartender, and even had the unique opportunity to work as Ted Nugent’s Administrative Assistant. My career path has been anything but ordinary, taking me from the largest male prison in the world, where I served as the Deputy Warden’s secretary, to the payroll accountant of a construction firm. I’ve nurtured young minds in my daycare and crafted stories as a staff writer for the Marshall Chronicle in Marshall, MI. After a fulfilling return to academia, earning a master’s in psychology, I opened a counseling practice that lasted 15 years, focusing mainly on foster care, adoptions, abuse, and the unfortunate molestation and rape cases.
Writing, however, has been my constant companion—poems, short stories, paranormal tales, psychological thrillers, and children’s books—all stemming from a passion ignited in third grade by my inspiring teacher, Mrs. Fierke from Harrington Elementary in Albion, MI. Writing isn’t just what I do; it’s a part of who I am and always will be.
